One question I have is whether the current economic indicators adequately capture the value creation of information products. For example, how are information products such as Bloombergs subscription service, or the information products my firm produces (market tracking products), captured in the GDP measurements? What is the Federal Reserve doing to incorporate information products with no ‘brick and mortar’ base? What do you think?
Kauffman Foundation Study on the Importance of Entrepreneurship During A Recession

Welcome to the Economy 2.0
July 12, 2009Welcome to the Economy 2.0 site. One of the key issues facing everyone today is the economy. And not just the current economic slow down, but perhaps more importantly, how is the economy fundamentally changing? Dr. Allan Greenspan notes in his book, “The Age of Turbulence” that advent of the computer age has impacted the economy in ways we are just now beginning to understand. The ability of the economy to generate growth without increasing inflation is just one example of fundamental changes taking place in the economy. (In his book, Dr. Greenspan notes that this is due, at least in part, to the productivity gains associated with the widespread adoption of information technology).
Objectives For This Site. My goal for this site is to create a forum for sharing information, discussion, and insight into the new changing economy. Professionals, amateurs, and politicians are all welcome to read, comment, and contribute. The goal is to keep a very open forum, although I do reserve the right to edit comments or submissions that are abusive or inappropriate.
So again, welcome, and enjoy the site.
