The study, "The Economic Future Just Happened," found that more than half of the companies on the 2009 Fortune 500 list were launched during a recession or bear market, along with nearly half of the firms on the 2008 Inc. list of America’s fastest-growing companies. The report also suggests a broader economic trend, with job creation from startup companies proving to be less volatile and sensitive to downturns when compared to the overall economy.

Welcome to the Economy 2.0 site. One of the key issues facing everyone today is the economy. And not just the current economic slow down, but perhaps more importantly, how is the economy fundamentally changing? Dr. Allan Greenspan notes in his book, “The Age of Turbulence” that advent of the computer age has impacted the economy in ways we are just now beginning to understand. The ability of the economy to generate growth without increasing inflation is just one example of fundamental changes taking place in the economy. (In his book, Dr. Greenspan notes that this is due, at least in part, to the productivity gains associated with the widespread adoption of information technology).

Objectives For This Site. My goal for this site is to create a forum for sharing information, discussion, and insight into the new changing economy. Professionals, amateurs, and politicians are all welcome to read, comment, and contribute. The goal is to keep a very open forum, although I do reserve the right to edit comments or submissions that are abusive or inappropriate.

So again, welcome, and enjoy the site.
